Song for Uncertain Times

by Michael R. Oldham

about

When the pandemic began, everything hit at once for me. I lost my work as a professional pianist as all of my gigs came to a complete halt, my parents sold my childhood home and moved out of state, I lost my relationship, I lost my security, I lost direction, I lost my sense of self.

This piece reflects all of that, but it also reflects a new beauty I found - I slowed down, I sat and went through some major self-reflection, I wondered...and wondered...and wondered...about the past, the present, the future. I thought about where I saw myself heading as a person, composer, and artist. I wrote and wrote and wrote. I finished an EP. I finished an album. I wrote 8 art songs.

Amidst all of the chaos going on inside me, I began to find my true artistic voice. This time has ushered in a period of intense personal, emotional, and creative growth. I have so much more to say, and I hope that you will listen and learn along with me. All of my love goes to you. Thank you for listening and supporting me in every little way possible.

This is the second single from my upcoming full-length album, "A Closer Look Reveals," out this year (2021).
